A former Chicago Episcopal church built in 1885 has been adapted into an arts center for visual, performing and culinary arts by David Chase and Kimberly Rachal. The rehabilitated property now houses eight art galleries, three resident artist studios, Studio 4 (where classes, workshops and lectures are held), four performing arts venues, and three event spaces.

The rehabilitation of 1870s brick tenements (the Pullman Block Houses) by Chicago Neighborhood Initiatives (CNI), Artspace, and Pullman Arts in the historic Pullman community has brought new affordable housing opportunities and community artist support to a neighborhood long defined by its distinctive design and extraordinary history. The rehabilitated 33,000-square-foot development on Chicago’s far South Side now contains 38 apartment units for veterans and artists.

A historic Pullman neighborhood school (built in 1894, 1900 and 1923) in Chicago’s far South Side has been sensitively adapted by Celadon Holdings, LLC and Urbanworks into affordable housing for senior citizens. The 60 residential units include retained historic elements including chalkboards, built-in bookcases, and trim.
